GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 27, ISSUE 1 49 hoping to latch on wherever possible. But for the Texans, his third team — he spent train- ing camp with the New York Giants, then was briefly on Baltimore's practice squad — he thinks he's found a good fit. "I felt like I established myself, but I still have some work to do as far as playing wide receiver and running back. But I felt like I gave the coaches a good impression of what I can do," he said. Hunt's versatility is his biggest plus, with his ability to showcase his speed from the backfield and a receiver while split in the slot. He showed both in his seven games to end last season in Houston, when he had 96 yards on 17 carries, a solid average of 5.6 yards per attempt, with another 39 yards (on six catches) in the passing game. His best game was his last, when he started vs. Jack- sonville and had 28 yards on only three carries, plus a 27-yard reception. But he knows he still has to com- pete; Houston started training camp with six running backs, with only four of them likely to make the 53-man roster. "It's an uphill battle when you're un- drafted, but that's the glory behind it," Hunt said. "Because once you make it to the top, you can look back at all the stuff you've overcome, all the adversity. It's a good roller coaster." j — Kyle Charters Photos by Kyle Charters Hunt
