GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 27, ISSUE 1 70 That's where Purdue doesn't have all that many cer- tainties on its side. Purdue is recruiting as if it expects to lose Caleb Swanigan after his coming sophomore season, but has some less-certain outlooks on juniors Isaac Haas and Vincent Edwards. No one expects either player to leave school early, but both could theoretically be candidates to if they have big seasons. Haas might be particularly relevant to Jackson, who'd prefer earlier in his career to get to play away from the basket, understanding his perimeter skill is a central piece of his value, and understanding he may not be strong enough to fit ideally at center early in his career. Supporting cast is a moving target for Purdue in its pitches to its top 2017 targets, but will become less so as the process continues, once commitments starting coming in. Purdue has four scholarships to offer, but may sign as many as five to account for Swanigan's situation. The commitment stage could quickly begin. As of the publication of this magazine, Purdue was days away from hosting official visits from big men Terrell Brown and Xavier Tillman and guard Nojel Eastern. Brown's a 6-10, 225-pound forward-center who's also being pursued by Texas, Pittsburgh and others. Tillman's a powerful 6-8, 260-pounder best suited for center who'll visit Purdue, then is slated to take trips to Michigan State, Florida and Marquette. Eastern is a 6-5 combo guard who's ranked No. 58 nationally by Eastern has a visit to Mich- igan State set up for the weekend after his Purdue visit, but would seem like the most likely of the three visitors to commit to the Boilermakers if any might. These will be Purdue's second, third and fourth of- ficial visits of the 2017 recruiting cycle. Big man Theo John officially visited in June. It will be a busy fall. Purdue is expected to get an official visit in Septem- ber from long-time forward target Kyle Young, who's ranked No. 109 nationally by Young has whittled his long list of national offers down to five, with it set to come down to Purdue, Butler and Ohio State. Chris Sodom, a 7-3 center who's thought to be one of the best rim-pro- tectors in his class, said he plans to offi- cially visit in Septem- ber, too. California big man Evan Battey and Aus- tralian center Jacob Epperson are each Purdue targets ex- pects on campus for official visits in Sep- tember, too. j 1241 Cumberland Ave, Suite B West Lafayette, IN 47906 Phone: 765-497-0197 A Fee-Based Investment Advisor located in the Purdue Research Park 25+ Years of Investment Management Experience Bill Banker, President Purdue University Alumnus '85 Purdue Baseball Alumnus '81-'85
