MCGROR Y rand Imaging Group, a visual com- munications provider and FastSigns franchisee in Antioch, Tenn., first got its start in 1994 as a vinyl sign company, says owner Scott Snoyer. By the late 1990s, Brand Imaging Group became an early adopter of digital printing technology, and the company has gone on to include a wide variety of signage applications, such as engraving, architectural signage and ADA signage. Around 2007, when Brand Imaging Group was ready to once again increase its product offerings, it decided to look into dye sublimation printing, Snoyer says, but the shop couldn't find the right machine at the right price at that time. However, that all recently changed when Brand Imaging Group found the Evo33, a solvent VUTEk machine re- built into a dye sublimation printer, by PrinterEvolution, a provider of wide- and grand-format printers with after- market enhancements. Brand Imaging Group brought the Evo33 into its shop at the beginning of 2012, which has al- lowed the company to expand its reach. While Brand Imaging Group has dabbled into the trade show market in the past, it hasn't been able to serve the market in the same way that it can now with a dye sublimation printer. "We did a lot of trade show applica- tions before, but it was always on a coated fabric that would wrinkle if you folded it, or we were limited by the fact that it had to be on a coated fabric thrown into a latex or UV printer," Snoyer says. "So it's opened up that part of the market for us. These prints just look so much better because of the color pop."
