The Review-Mirror September 1, 2016 – 16 Quilter and textile enthusiasts will be coming to Westport Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 to take in work- shops, presentations and exhibits. Westport Arts Council volunteers are organizing the event for the first time. The workshops will offer something for every- one including Quilting 101; Appliqué, Ruching and More; Square in a Square; Stained Glass Canadian Landscapes; and a Mystery Quilt. Friday's Quilting Café Day offers a chance to work on projects in good company or to complete a square to be included in a Westport Arts Council 2017 celebration quilts. Kits are available with rich autumn fabric for the 12" quilt blocks which if completed, could be exhibited on Saturday in anticipation of the quilt's assembly. A luncheon at The Cove with a presentation by Carol Darou from the Lanark County Quilters Guild will be the centre- piece of the day. On Saturday, at the same five host churches, there will be the ultimate celebration of quilts – old and new. Throughout the day there will also be story- telling with a quilting theme. Passports for the Satur- day event will be available at the Rideau District Museum.
