TECH SHOWCASE: PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT Extra-large sewing area MESA Distributors introduces the Highland HM-1504 15-needle auto color-change four-head embroidery machine. The machine features an extra-large em- broidery sewing area of 19.6" X 17.7", TFT-LCD tech- nology, a 5.7" panel with an easy-to read menu and on-screen prompts that guides users through every step of the process as well as a USB port to load designs from any USB flash drive. This multi-head also has a wide cap frame. Other fully automated functions include thread trimming and thread break sensors as well as built-in energy-saving fluorescent lights. The memory stores a maximum one million stitches or approximately 99 designs, and it sews at a top speed of 850 stitches per minute. Accessories include eight wide cap frames, one cap gauge, ma- chine grease, a tool kit, machine oil and oiling bottle and foot bolts and pads. All Challenger III models feature calibrated, tool-free click- stop four-corner off-contact settings and print heads driven by electric-drive motors. The print heads include no-tool front and rear print-stroke adjustment. It features pneumatic screen clamps, an indexer that enables double indexing in one unin- terrupted motion, squeegee pressure regulators, independent squeegee and floodbar speed adjustments, adjustable rear screen holders, independently-set angle and calibrated squee- gee and floodbar pressure adjustments and M&R's patented Revolver Print Program and electronically adjustable Ink Dip ink retrieval system. The front and rear screen holders reportedly allow easy placement of extra-wide screens. Print, reset and print/flood speed controls on each print head further simplify setup. Each print head also features a socket that is designed to make it easy to position a flash cure unit in any station. Chal- lenger III 110 models include a wider print carriage.
