Center currently hosts 300 birthday parties
a year, which is valuable not only because of
the revenue the parties provide, but because
birthday party guests and their parents are
potential customers.
Another new aspect of the business Joel has
helped cultivate is Frederick Indoor Training,
or FIT. "We used to have a gym," he says.
A trainer leased a space that had workout
equipment. After the trainer's lease ran out,
FIT opened on the first floor of the facility.
"It's no longer a gym; it's personal and group
training. We do personal, small group and
team training, as well as corporate wellness.
FIT provides training, in addition to field time,
for a local soccer club. It's a package deal.
A local hockey club trains at an ice rink
in the neighborhood and utilizes FIT for
their workouts. FIT also provides parents
an opportunity to work out during their
kids' practices."
Through an understanding of the significance
of kids to the Frederick's success, Joel makes
sure to keep them happy and involved also
through such programs as house teams for
those not on a regular team. He coaches kids
and offers camps and clinics. Above all, he
has developed personal relationships with kids
and parents, satisfying a community need and
providing excellent customer service.
For the past three years, Joel has helped
build Frederick Indoor Sports Center into the
thriving business it is today. He gave up his
dream of becoming a country music star in
order to support his daughter's education. His
strong family values seem to be part of what
make him the ideal fit.
