T his month's Smorgasbord takes a look at Reveille Russet, a uniform, medium-early, high pack-out fresh market russet with wide adaptability. Reveille Russet was developed by the Texas Potato Breeding and Variety Development Program. The program director is J. Creighton Miller, Jr., and research associates are Douglas Scheuring and Jeffrey Koym. The name "Reveille" (a signal to rise) reflects the variety's earliness and is also the name of Texas A&M University's famous collie mascot.
