124 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING was an All-American for State basketball in 1952 and 1953. However, Speight's older brother Wilton is the starting quarterback for No. 2 Michigan, and the Wolverines have also reportedly offered. He has been offered by NC State and took an official visit Sept. 16, the weekend the Pack defeated Old Dominion. DEFENSIVE LINEMAN AARON STERLING Stone Mountain (Ga.) Tucker High Sterling had been verbally committed to Alabama until Sept. 19, and that was about 48 hours after he returned from NC State for an un- official visit. The Pack is expected to get an of- ficial visit from Sterling in December. South Carolina has also been heavily involved with Sterling. Like NCSU, the Gamecocks have hosted him for a game this fall and hope to bring him back for an official visit in December. Tennessee and Georgia are also in the mix. Rivals.com rates Sterling (6-1, 260 pounds) as the No. 24 recruit from Georgia, and the No. 13 strongside defensive end and No. 248 overall player in the country. ■ Brooks Malone, CPA, Partner Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP bmalone@hpg.com 919.232.5905 NCSU Class of '88 1500 Sunday Drive, Suite 300 Raleigh, NC 27607 www.hpg.com @HPGcpas Proud Supporter Wolfpack Club For regular reports on NC State football recruit- ing plus videos of Wolfpack commitments and targets visit TheWolfpacker.com.
