6 GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED Mike Bobinski Boiler Index: Smoking After less than two months on the job at Purdue, the athletic director made a big move, dismissing Darrell Hazell as the football coach. It helped reinforce his statement during his introductory press conference when he said he "wasn't a status quo guy." And now, he'll lead the search for Purdue's next head coach. Carsen Edwards Boiler Index: Steaming The freshman has Purdue fans buzzing, and with good reason. He might be the most dynamic backcourt player Purdue's had in years, due to his willingness to go full throttle on the offensive end. That'll result in some positive plays, and maybe the occasional bad one. But it will be exciting throughout. Dominique McBryde Boiler Index: Smoldering The forward showed flashes during her freshman season, an ability to move quickly around opponent post players and throw up shots with the left and right hand, an uncanny ability to make them go in when there wasn't any room. It has been a 10 years since this cover was printed and the Boilermaker teams in 2006-07 fared pretty well. The women advanced to the Elite Eight, and the men took eventual national champ Florida to the wire in the Round of 32. Photos by Tom Campbell
