IT HAS BEEN 13 YEARS since the
Center for Disease Control introduced
HEADS UP to Youth Sports, creating the
model policy for concussion assessment
and training in youth sports. Since then,
all 50 states have enacted laws regulating
concussion management in youth athletics.
Concussions, along with all head injuries,
are a serious issue and the awareness of
them is at an all-time high.
It is a recognized fact that helmets
protect skaters from head injuries while
