FALL 2016 St. Mark's School: Where Christ is loved, Excellence is expected, Character counts, and Traditions thrive. Once Always A MARKSMAN, A MARKSMAN ST. MARK'S CATHOLIC GRADE SCHOOL T he life of a school is full of milestones, turning points, and defining moments that shape the very character and heart of its mission. We at St. Mark's School are at the cornerstone of a bright new future for the students and families we serve today and will serve tomorrow. St. Mark's Catholic School is committed to the development of character, scholarship, and faith in its students. In our 120th year, we were privileged to open our doors to 180 students in grades Pre-K-8 seeking a Catholic education. Our school enables a chal- lenging curriculum that includes art, music, and technology. Our students are also able to partic- ipate in more than 20 extracurricular opportu- nities, including athletics, band, musicals, Lego League, Scholastic Bowl, community service, and Student Council. Partnering with Notre Dame and Bradley University A major highlight of the year is our new partnership with the University of Notre Dame. Last year, we welcomed two new teachers who are working on their master's degrees through the Alliance for Catholic Education Program (ACE). is allowed us to offer Spanish as part of our curriculum. We are fortunate to continue our Professional Development School Partnership with Bradley University. e students at St. Mark's and Bradley are gaining great hands-on experiences through clinical observations, student teaching, and a range of projects with the departments in nursing, physical therapy, psychology, counseling, music, athletics, and teacher education. St. Mark's School strives to make Catholic school accessible, affordable, and available to all families. is commitment is the sign of our faith and service in regards to the educational mission of the church. Almost 52% of our students are receiving needs-based tuition assistance through the Spalding Scholarship and supplemental aide from the parish. With the grace of God and the assistance of wonderful benefactors, we will continue to offer students the lasting gi of a Catholic education. Your generosity remains a vote of confidence in our efforts to provide the very best education in a Christ-centered environment for our students. Your participation is truly what counts!
