Thank You, Prairie Island Indian Community! Minnesota Hockey and Minnesota Disabled Hockey would like to say thank you to the Prairie Island Indian Community! Prairie Island continues to be a tremendous supporter of youth and disabled hockey programs in Minnesota. The Prairie Island Indian Community has been involved with program sales at Minnesota Wild games since the 2008-09 season, which supports community-based associations throughout the state. Over the last seven years, they have also made significant donations to Minnesota Disabled Hockey, helping it become the largest hockey program for people with disabilities in the nation. Prairie Island Indian Community has played a major role in making it possible for every person in Minnesota, regardless of disability, to play hockey. Thank you for assuring that hockey in Minnesota is for everyBODY! Get an Edge by Training Hockey Sense Hockey sense is an elusive term that's long been thought of as unteachable. The theory goes that players like Housley, Broten or Parise just "have it." However, this view of hockey sense is now being called into question. For several years, USA Hockey, a range of NCAA teams and teams in the Minnesota Hockey High Performance Programs have been using a tool called IntelliGym to hone hockey sense. An innovative software program, IntelliGym helps hone all aspects of hockey sense, including anticipation and spatial awareness. The results speak for themselves. Since integrating IntelliGym into regular training, USA Hockey's youth teams have medalled in 23 of the last 24 international tournaments, winning 16 gold medals and six IIHF U18 World Championship titles with IntelliGym. You train in the gym and on the ice for hours. Isn't it time you got the edge that comes from training the brain? NEWS & NOTES Follow Minnesota Hockey on Twitter @MinnHockey 'LIKE' Minnesota Hockey on Facebook Facebook.com/MinnHockey Minnesota Hockey Hard Divider Program Minnesota Hockey and Rink Systems, Inc. will once again offer the Hard Ice Divider Subsidy Program during the 2016-17 season. The partnership will allow associations to receive a $2,500 subsidy when purchasing hard ice dividers and enable programs to purchase junior-size goal frames at a discounted rate. "We couldn't be more pleased with how successful the partnership with Rink Systems and the number of associations that have utilized the subsidy," said Dave Margenau, President of Minnesota Hockey. "To see more than a third of our associations take advantage of the program and use the boards to host cross and half-ice tournaments at the Mite/8U Girls level is exciting. The boards offer a realistic playing experience for the kids and the fans while promoting small-area games and practices." Associations who took part in the program in previous seasons are once again eligible for the subsidy this season if they would like to purchase a second set of boards.
