14 THE WOLVERINE DECEMBER 2016   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Rushing Roulette As of Nov. 18, Michigan was the only team in the Big Ten with a quartet of 400-yard rushers; Ohio State was the only other team with three. After 10 games, senior De'Veon Smith led the way with 592 yards, while freshman Chris Ev- ans had run for 508, sophomore Karan Higdon had added 415 and redshirt junior Ty Isaac had posted 411. Each was averaging at least 4.9 yards per carry, and the foursome had combined for 1,926 yards and 22 touchdowns on the ground. Despite the balanced attack, U-M had netted 2,363 yards and 37 touchdowns on the ground in 10 games, an average of 236.3 yards and 3.7 touchdowns per contest. That projects out to 3,071 rushing yards and 48 scores in 13 games and 3,308 rushing yards and 52 touchdowns in 14. The Wolver- ines last rushed for 3,000 yards in 2010 and have done so just twice since 1991, while the school record of 47 rushing touchdowns was set in 1971. — Ryan Tice MICHIGAN'S RUSHING PRODUCTION THROUGH 10 GAMES Through Nov. 18 Wilton Speight 1 (2.7%) Bobby Henderson 1 (2.7%) Jehu Chesson 1 (2.7%) Khalid Hill 9 (24.3%) Karan Higdon 6 (16.2%) De'Veon Smith 8 (21.6% Chris Evans 3 (8.1%) Ty Isaac 5 (13.5%) Jabrill Peppers 3(8.1%) RUSHING TOUCHDOWNS THE WOLVERINES' LEADING RUSHER BY GAME Through Nov. 18 Opponent Leading Rusher Att.-Yds.-TD Hawai'i Chris Evans 8-112-2 UCF De'Veon Smith 10-38-0 Colorado Smith 11-87-1 Penn State Smith 12-107-1 Wisconsin Smith 17-66-0 Rutgers Evans 11-153-0 Illinois Karan Higdon 8-106-1 MSU Eddie McDoom 2-53-0 Maryland Smith 19-114-3 Iowa Evans 8-52-0 De'Veon Smith 592 (25.1%) Chris Evans 508 (21.5%) Karan Higdon 415 (17.6%) Ty Isaac 411 (17.4%) Jabrill Peppers 161 (6.8%) Eddie McDoom 154 (6.5%) Other 75 (3.1%) Jehu Chesson 47 (2.0%) RUSHING YARDS Redshirt junior fullback Khalid Hill has been a crucial part of the ground attack, scoring nine rushing touch- downs en route to 10 overall, which ranked seventh in the Big Ten as of Nov. 18.
