DECEMBER 2016 THE WOLVERINE 61   BASKETBALL RECRUITING enough to keep defenses honest," Eavenson said. "What stands out the most is just his command of the floor. I would say he gets the respect of anybody who plays with him real quick because he makes everybody on the floor better. "Like any kid, you can always throw out that he can just get stron- ger and I would say continue to in- crease his shooting accuracy, but he's a good player." In three seasons at Kalamazoo Central, forward Isaiah Livers (6-8, Rivals.com's No. 120 senior nation- ally) has helped the Giants to a 51-10 record, three straight Class A Dis- trict 1 championships, two straight Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference East titles and two ap- pearances in the Class A Regional 1 championship game. Livers averaged 14.0 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game last year, while earning all-state hon- ors from The Detroit Free Press (sec- ond team), The Detroit News (third team) and the Associated Press (hon- orable mention). He added first-team Kalamazoo Gazette Dream Team hon- ors as well as a spot on the Basket- ball Coaches Association of Michigan Academic All-State team. Livers chose Michigan over Michi- gan State, surprising many. His re- lationship with Beilein was the dif- ference, he said at the time, and he and the coach have continued to talk since his September pledge. "Isaiah has a versatility to his game, which we feel will only help us," Beilein said. "He can shoot from the perimeter, is very skilled and is improving his rebounding and pass- ing skills. He is agile enough to be a combo forward who can guard or score in the post and on the perimeter. "He comes from a great family, and we love his outstanding attitude, passion for the game and love for the University of Michigan." Rivals.com analyst Eric Bossi predicted good things for Livers at Michigan after a summer in which he really expanded his game. Beilein told him he wanted to see Livers be more aggressive on the AAU circuit, and he responded, averaging 10 points per game. "He could maybe be maybe a little more aggressive on the glass and devote a little more time to pound- ing his way toward the rim offen- sively. He's a little quick to settle for that baseline jumper or the 15-foot jumper," Bossi said. "I'd like to see him get a little bit more down and dirty, a little more grime in his game. Isaiah Livers, a 6-8 forward from Kalamazoo, Mich., averaged 14.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest as a junior, and is the No. 120 senior nationally according to Rivals.com.
