FINANCIAL REPORT 2016 ARCHDIOCESE OF DENVER 03 My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, T he Church has just come to the close of the Year of Mercy, a time of great grace that helped us focus on receiving the Father's mercy individually and bringing it to others, especially those on the margins of society. The blessings were profound and hopefully they will continue to grow through the continued living out of the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. In the Archdiocese of Denver, we are privileged to have the presence of many good, faithful ministries that bring God's mercy to the world. These ministries depend on your generous commitment and support. I want to thank each and every person who makes these good works possible through your ongoing generosity. In a special way, I would like to extend my gratitude to the clergy and staff of our parish communities, Catholic Charities, and the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center. For the purposes of keeping you informed of the various archdiocesan entities and their fi nancial status, I am pleased to present the annual fi nancial report for the fi scal year that ended June 30, 2016. I am happy to be able to say that we continue to be fi nancially sound and to make advances in implementing good fi scal practices throughout the archdiocese. I invite you to take a few minutes to review this annual report. Looking ahead to the coming year, it is important for each of us to continue to practice mercy and to allow God's forgiveness to penetrate our hearts, so that it forms how we live. As you contemplate the approach of 2017, I invite each of you to pray and consider how God is calling you to grow closer to him. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide you as you discern how to best be a good steward of the resources he has entrusted to you. May you have a blessed Christmas and may our Lord bless your families with his joy! Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Samuel J. Aquila, S. T. L. Archbishop of Denver "I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to le• ing him encounter them; I ask all of you to do this unfailingly each day. No one should think that this invitation is not meant for him or her, since 'no one is excluded from the joy brought by the Lord.'" Pope Francis Evangelii Gaudium
