18 • January 2017 • S I G N & D I G I T A L G R A P H I C S Roland Devices to be Featured in "Window Warriors" TV Series Irvine, California-based Roland DGA, a manufacturer of wide-format printers, cutters and engraving devices, announces that it has signed on as a promotional partner on "Window Warriors," a new skill-based competition series premiering on the GSN (Game Show Network) today, Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 9 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Central. Roland devices will play an important role in the series, with the company's printers and vinyl cutters serving as key creative tools for the show's window designers, who will compete for a $100,000 grand prize. Hosted by actress Garcelle Beauvais, GSN's "Window Warriors" lifts the curtain on the intensely competitive and theatrical world of visual merchandising, where the country's most talented window designers are challenged to design and create jaw-dropping displays each week. Roland devices to be used by contestants throughout the course of the series include its SOLJET Pro 4 XR-640 wide-for- mat printer/cutter, VersaUV LEJ-640 hybrid wide-format printer, and CAMM-1 GS-24 vinyl cutter. "We're thrilled the producers chose Roland equipment for GSN's 'Window Warriors,'" says Andrew Oransky, president of Irvine, California based Roland DGA. "These innovative devices will help the competitors make the most of their creative talents." Award-winning visual merchandising icon Paul Olszewski is consulting producer, and Douglas Little, a master in the world of visual merchandising, is serving as a judge and creative consultant for the show. DCS Appoints Rowmark Australia as Authorized Distributor Direct Color Systems (DCS) announces the appointment of Rowmark Australia as an authorized distributor to offer its line of small-format direct-to-substrate and direct-to- garment UV-LED inkjet printers and supplies in New South Wales and western Australia. Rowmark Australia customers were invited to see DCS's technology in action at an open house event in early November, featuring demonstrations of DCS's patent pending direct-to-garment printing for light and dark cotton, polyesters, blends and synthetics with no pre-treatment required, as well as its patent pending UV-LED Braille signage printing. Planar Systems to Acquire NaturalPoint Portland, Oregon-based digital display manufacturer Planar, a Leyard company, announces its acquisition of Corvallis, Oregon- based NaturalPoint, a maker of optical motion capture hardware and software, for $125 million in an all-cash transaction. The companies say the acquisition will combine comple- mentary technologies to capitalize on the growth and strategic opportunities presented by augmented and virtual reality, as well as in other market segments such as and in other market segments like drone tracking, movement sciences, sports performance, computer visualization and animation. The acquisition is subject to customary closing condi- tions and is expected to finalize in the fourth calendar quarter of 2016 or early in the first calendar quarter of 2017. NaturalPoint will remain a separate business with its own executive team, customers, and market initiatives. Drytac Opens Web-based Print Media Portal Richmond, Virginia-based Drytac, an international manufacturer of adhesive- coated products and finishing equipment, with locations throughout North America and Europe, announces that it is expanding its web-based resources by developing a new online portal that integrates color profiles for its print media. Through the new portal customers can access and down- load profiles by creating an account and selecting specific search criteria, including Drytac print media, printer manu- facturer and RIP manufacturer. The profile portal allows users to access technical set- tings of profiles for media printed on Roland, HP, Mimaki, and Epson printers.
