S I G N & D I G I T A L G R A P H I C S • January 2017 • 77 A flat inset back plate was welded onto the star's underside to give something to screw into for mounting. Three stars were made, and the parts were first taped from both sides with small tabs of nylon strapping tape, then tack-welded on the back side. A powder coated metallic gold was used for the stars, and Tiger-Drylac Bengal Blue was the color chosen for the flat panels. The red was straight pre-finished .040 aluminum.
