Wild Celebrates Girls Hockey Weekend The Minnesota Wild, in partnership with Minnesota Hockey and the Minnesota Whitecaps, hosted its first ever Girls Hockey Weekend at Xcel Energy Center on December 16-18. The weekend of events kicked off on Friday with three-time Olympic medalist and current Hamline coach Natalie Darwitz participating in a Wild team practice. In doing so, Darwitz became the first woman to skate with the Wild. With "The Drive to State powered by Chevy," Chevy Dealers play a key role in the signature events of youth hockey in Minnesota. "Like the rest of the hockey players and families in Minnesota, we are very excited for the most thrilling time of the hockey season—State Tournament time," said Grant Osgood, President of the Select Heartland Chevy Dealers of Minnesota. "We wish all of those teams competing for a spot at a Minnesota Hockey State Tournament the best of luck on their Drive to State!" Additionally, several youth hockey clinics will be held over the course of the year to provide more hockey players the opportunity to work on skills at no cost to their families, and Chevrolet will be a supporting partner of the Minnesota Hockey Hard Ice Divider program, which assists associations in enhancing cross-ice hockey games. Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey, as well as players from the Minnesota Whitecaps, led groups of 8U and 10U girls through an on-ice session and dry land activities. Meanwhile, the participants' family members had the opportunity to watch the U.S. Women's National team face off against Canada on the arena's video board. Girls Hockey Weekend concluded on Dunday with additional clinics for players age 12 & Under and 19 & over. In total, nearly 150 girls and women participated in Girls Hockey Weekend.
