Yes, you're disappointed, but take this opportunity to learn from the experience and try to do something different to help you become successful on your next attempt. It's things like that, that has stuck with me for my profes- sional life and my personal life [thanks to hockey]. MHJ // Are those life lessons a big reason why you encouraged your own son, 11-year-old Tommy, to sign up to play hockey? JD // Absolutely. He's experienced the same things I experienced in his young career, dealing with challenges on the ice. He was kind of a late starter when it came to hockey so he had some catching up to do with his skating skills and puck handling skills. All of that now this year is really start- ing to come together. His confi- dence level is coming way up. MHJ // And those same lessons are being learned by Tommy and his twin sister Maria in their other sports too right? JD // Tommy plays soccer and hockey, and Maria plays soccer and lacrosse. A lot of the same stuff we're talking about with hockey, there's crossover into soccer and lacrosse. A lot of life lessons both my kids are learning. I think it's really important that kids get involved in some type of team sport to really help develop them as good individuals as they get older.
