GOING FOR
IN A LITTLE MORE THAN ONE YEAR the
world will descend upon a little-known mountainous region in
South Korea for the 23rd Winter Olympics. As the sporting
world's epicenter shifts to PyeongChang, about 115 miles east
of South Korea's capital, Olympics enthusiasm will also reach
a fever pitch on rinks and in ice arenas across the U.S. Are you
ready to take advantage of the influx of ice rink intrigue?
As with Olympiads past, like Sochi in 2014 and Vancouver in
2010, the Winter Games attract nearly 24/7 media attention,
along with hours of coverage of ice sports. This tide of positive
publicity is sure to attract curious first-timers and serious vets
alike to the rink. Whether it's for hockey, figure skating, curling
or speed skating, there are initiatives all rink operators can take
to capitalize on this once-every-four-years craze.
