mayor's welcome InsIde 4 Grand Marshals The Day's Schedule 8 A Call to Celebrate As we enjoy the 4th of July activities, we look forward to each year, let us all take a moment out of our daily schedules and activities to reflect upon and remember those who have sacrificed their lives so we can enjoy and celebrate our freedoms! Our nation and communities have been through a lot during these past 236 years and because of the heroic efforts of hundreds of thousands of ordinary patriot heroes, we now celebrate our sacred liberties. Now it's up to each of us in this great community and throughout our country, to stand tall and do our part in preserving the freedoms, values and work ethic that built this great nation. Now I would like to invite you to enjoy the many wonderful amenities in our community. Even though family budgets are tight, there is much to enjoy here locally, such as our beautiful greenbelt, our many parks and recreational facilities and of course the Idaho Falls Zoo. We also have two wonderful museums—the Museum of Idaho and the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho—that provide great cultural offerings in our area. Then to close out the day, enjoy the incredible fireworks display down by the river. Have a great and safe summer! Jared D. Fuhriman Mayor, City of Idaho Falls On the COver With its 2012 theme, Pride in Patriotism, the I.F. Chamber of Commerce has put together another great spectacle for parade fans throughout the valley. More than 100 floats are registered for the event, which launches from Idaho Falls High School and concludes at Tautphaus Park. For this year's lineup, see Page 8. Cover photo by Steve Smede.
