The NBA TIM HARDAWAY JR. GOES OFF TO LEAD ATLANTA TO A BIG WIN Former Michigan wing Tim Hard- away Jr., now in his second year in Atlanta after spending two seasons in New York, scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Hawks back from 21 points down in a 113- 108 road win over the Houston Rock- ets Feb. 2. Hardaway made 12 of 18 shots and scored 33 total points in 33 minutes. "He got a couple of drives and then saw a couple of threes go in," head coach Mike Budenholzer told The At- lanta Journal-Constitution. "Once he has both going, he can be a tough cover. "He just kind of had everything going. It was one of those special quarters for a young player who is really emerging and rising." Hardaway scored 12 straight points during one stretch in the fourth quarter. "Tim is making crazy shots," team- mate Dwight Howard said. "We kept trying to find plays to get him attack- ing the basket. That's what I kept tell- ing him, 'Tim, attack, attack, attack.' "It opened up everything when he started doing that." Max Pacioretty • NHL Pacioretty scored two goals and two assists, setting up the game- winning goal 2:13 into overtime, to lead Montreal past Arizona. Feb. 9. He is once again closing in on the 30-goal mark with 28 as of Feb. 12. Al Montoya • NHL The former Wolverine netminder blanked Edmonton for all of regulation and overtime, yet still took the loss for Montreal in a 1-0 shootout setback Feb. 6.
