INSPIRATION Though some of the flash and flare at the shows has no place in your production line, it stands to reason that manufacturers and distributors want to show you how to best use their products. If they can help you make a more salable product, they know you'll buy the materials you need to do so from them. This means that there is no lack of inspirational material available on the floor. Shows are also abundant with less direct sources of inspiration, from cues about displaying products to the decorated garments worn by the proud embroiderers and printers walking the aisles, to the promotional products being bandied about by vendors, even to the samples being produced on-site by the equipment manufacturers. In a crowd of decorators, there's no shortage of concepts from which you can take inspiration whether you are looking for a commercial supplier or a decorator wearing their favorite show-off piece. Though travel and downtime can be costly, trade shows let us reconnect with the wonder of what we do and make plans for the future. Whether your focus is education, upgrades, or just getting to know your peers, a well-planned trip to a trade show can be just what you need to fuel your shop's development.
