Safety First
Safety continues to be a top discussion topic at SCORE International and in this issue, we have the opportunity to review the Helmet Product category and its effect on minimizing or preventing concussions. We review key pieces of equipment, and what the product offerings are for SCORE racers, off-road motorsports participants, and recreational usage. More important, we had the opportunity to speak with “concussion experts” at the PRI show’s Stand 21 Safety Foundation seminar and can now share what insights they have provided to better educate all of you on this important topic.
On the vehicle front, we have a great overview of two purpose built off-road vehicles that are designed for the SCORE International world. From a SCORE heritage perspective, we have the original off-road “factory ride”, the Ford early model Bronco, that is burned into all of our memory banks with Rod Hall, Parnelli Jones and the late actor, James Garner, all piloting race versions of this iconic Baja vehicle into legend and the history books. The new ZR2 Chevy Colorado represents the latest OEM Factory effort at a purpose built truck targeted at the more extreme off-road end user with great new features you can see in more detail in this issue.
Finally, as we move closer to this year’s historic SCORE Baja 1000 50th Anniversary, we would like to announce that Sal Fish, the former President & CEO of SCORE International, will be this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 50th Anniversary Grand Marshall! Sal’s 38 year’s at the helm of SCORE has made this landmark date happen and we are excited about his involvement again with this very special occasion!
Enjoy the issue.
