Henry House is: Dignity. Independence. Synergy
Henry House is an innovative residential model now in the
planning stages for people with and without physical disabilities.
And it needs your energy.
This vibrant, self-sustaining cooperative residence—proposed
for the edge of Purdue's campus—will be designed for those with
physical disabilities yet intellectual abilities.
People with cognitive acumen and physical challenges are
responsible for their own care in a home co-rented with the able
bodied who provide support with simple tasks.
Tenants without disabilities could be students studying in
healthcare fields such as Health Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy or
Engineering Services.
• Residents with physical challenges have private,
accessible apartments.
• Individual is responsible for primary care services—not
tied to the residence.
• Able-bodied residents rent private rooms on the second
floor.
• Commercial kitchen and common living areas foster
community.
• A cooperative housing model—all residents contribute to
the daily operation.
• A house manager resides on the premises.
