However, a fledgling social network, dedicated exclusively to connecting the automotive world, is building its community by using the power of video to put viewers in the driver’s seat. Startup Garagesocial.com is creating an interactive space, much like Facebook, where car and motorcycle lovers, racing professionals and related businesses create free profiles, upload vehicle photos, descriptions and specs, buy, sell or rent, announce events and, above all, communicate locally and internationally with others who share a common interest.  To grow this new community, GarageSocial.com launched a major advertising campaign through a variety of automotive television networks, using “model motorsports enthusiast” videos to drive response. Among the model enthusiasts selected for the videos, was New Jersey Motorsports Park and its private Exotic Car Garage owners. One owner’s video in particular tells the story of how deeply passionate about motorsports these folks truly are. “We feel privileged to be part of such an innovative and much-needed social concept,” said NJMP co-founder Lee Brahin. “Garagesocial’s goal matches our own to bring like-minded enthusiasts together under one roof — or social media platform as the case may be.” Ask National QMy medical expires halfway through this season. Do I need to renew it before the second half of the season, or can I wait till this season is over? AYour license becomes invalid the day after the shown Medical Expiration date on your license. You can wait, but you can’t race with an invalid license. QIf my car breaks during a race, and I know what’s wrong with it, can I get out and fix it? AAccording to a new addition to section 25.9.1 in the CCR, yes. Check out the last sentence: “Anytime a driver is forced to stop in an emergency; the first concern should be to place the car in an area where it will not cause danger to the other drivers. When stopping off course, the driver should be careful not to stop on dry grass areas where fire can be a hazard. The crew may come to the aid of a disabled car only with the approval of the Race Director. The driver may make repairs if the vehicle is in a safe area, such as behind a wall or flag stand.” Do you have a question for NASA National staff? Send them to SpeedNewsEditor@drivenasa.com.
