32 HOUSE / TECHNO www.guestlist.net Dystopia @Rhythm Factory MARTIN SOLVEIG ARTIST OF THE MONTH Issue 42 / 2012 Dystopia, a movement which tries to support and reinforce the underground electronic music and visual art scene in London. The cast is highlighted by The Black Dog who are universally respected, not least for their classic 'Bytes', 'Spanners' and 'Radio Scarecrow' albums, which literally created new fields of music. Their innovation is grounded in previous genera- tions of artists and musicians, to the beats, the Bohemians, and further back. Also, Andy Stott, blessed with an ear for space, has transitioned from making high-quality dub techno to releasing a singular and more adventurous strain with an approach that favours leaden tempos and unsettling, sample-based textures. Having experienced the developing techno landscape during his adolescence and landmark performances from the likes of Richie Hawtin and Derrick May, he began to take his first tentative steps towards music production. Support will come from Mime, XI, Mr.F and Malkavath. Imagery throughout the night will be courtesy of Anomalous Visuals. The evening will begin with an exhibition showcasing the distinct work of Sarah Janes, Brendon Fraser and Rachael Crozier. The French man has come back this summer to present his new production called "A Summer Night Out".
