40 DRUM N BASS / DUBSTEP www.guestlist.net AUGUST 2012 ALBUM OF THE MONTH: Issue 42 / 2012 TWO INCH PUNCH Affectionately named 'Luvstep' Genre coming into full bloom after the release of 'Saturn: Slow Jams EP' as we see Two Inch Punch make even further strides as an artist GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS Bringing two legends of the Sheffield un- derground music scene, this album has been mashed up and rebuilt into an abso- lute classic. Ninja Tune Presents the agitated version of Toddla T's 'Watch Me Dance'. The album is incredible and showcases the production talent of two of Sheffield's fin- est, Ross Orton and DJ Pipes. The concept behind this mate- rial isn't a re-release, but instead, the pair have created a whole new version of the album. They were asked to take the original tracks, mash it down and rebuild them as completely new pieces of music and boy have they done a sick job. It's hard for us to pick just one track as a stand out favourite as the agitated ver- sion of each brings a whole new dimension to an already incred- ible piece of work from Toddla T. Making our August album of the a no brainer. Make sure to pick up your copy of Toddla T's 'Watch me Dance' Agitated by Ross Orton and DJ Pipes out August 13th on Ninja Tune. URBAN NERDS CARNIVAL TOUR SCHEDULE : DJ HATCHA One of the God Fathers of Dubstep, DJ Hatcha is bringing his live set on the road. Mix- mag has already dubbed him one of the Greatest DJ's of all time so there is no excuse for missing this legend. Often the regarded as the creator of the Dubstep genre, his live sets showcase the biggest and the best tunes around. Make sure to check out DJ Hatcha at one of his upcoming dates. As the popularity of 'Post-dubstep' begins to subside, the genre seems to be expanding from the underground upward with a burst of originality as we see new artists experimenting with this genre's format and creating something completely new. A great example of this comes from the artist known as Two Inch Punch. Soulful RnB vocals manipulated in spacey/futuristic ways over far more melodic and musical sounding dubstep beats then the genre's general norm have come to define his signature sound. He's already collaborated with, believe it or not, Lil Wayne, created an absolutely stunning remix of Metronomy's 'The Look' and has support from the likes of Diplo and those involved in the world of Future Garage. A Brit School drop out that has paved his way into becoming one of the most original and interesting artists to the dubstep genre in a long while. Get to know Two Inch Punch.
