ISSUE 97 / 2017 21 FESTIVALS No one goes to Boomtown just once. In fact, most Boomtown goers spend the whole year looking forward to the next one, reminiscing until next year rolls around. Each year has a different theme, this year's being 'The Masked Man.' Which focuses on the power everyday people have to make a difference. Held in Temple Valley, Winchester, Boomtown has nine 'districts', each with different themes set to different genres of music. From every end of the spectrum, from jungle to folk, to Americana to gypsy music and everything in between. Which is what makes the festival a beautiful place to explore with something for everyone to groove to. Boomtown is for the people. There isn't one walk of life you won't find at Boom, from sweaty rave kids to punks, reggae heads to children, candy ravers to goths, Boomtown is a melting pot of people who just love to party. Boomtown takes place on August 10th-13th, tickets are avaliable now, see you on the dancefloor!. London's brightest one-dayer has announced its headline act: Foals. London's brightest one-dayer has announced its headline act: Foals. With Ben Howard, Bombay Bicycle Club and Sigur Ros hitting the main stage over the last two years, Victoria Park's Citadel Festival announced last month that it would be the Oxford fivesome who headline, with tickets up for grabs now! Citadel has hosted the likes of Ben Howard, Lianne La Havas, Bear's Den, Roots Manuva, Akala and Caribou in previous years, along with a booze tent, a high street full of international grub and a whole host of entertainment filling the East End's favourite park. With swing dancers, circus acts and (hopefully) the blazing hot sun, this festival is a one day party like no other. I even had the pleasure of hearing Akala talk about racism in modern culture, so this is one festival where you can relax in the sunshine and enjoy the music, and get your mind moving in discussion. Trust me, I know. I went last year and am still living in a summer dream. Before heading to London the Foals will be appearing at Spain's primo festival, Benicassim, starting only three days before. Citadel is their only UK festival show, so be sure not to miss it. The band wrote on Instagram last month: "It's actually the end of the tour, time to batten down the hatches and go off the radar for a while. Thanks so much to everybody that worked on this tour, and also thanks to all of you that came along and gave us the good time vibes, couldn't do it without you. See you soonish." Apparently soonish is far closer than fans might have thought, which is definitely a welcome surprise. BOOMTOWN SOON COME CITADEL 2017 IS BIGGER, BETTER & MORE BADASS
