ISSUE 97 / 2017 23 FILM Kaluuya plays Chris Washington, a talented young photographer visiting his girlfriend, Rose Armitage's, family home for the first time. Chris's first concern is; 'do they know that I'm black?' which is quickly brushed off by Rose, but turns out to be the start of his problems. Get Out is an impressive debut that won't disappoint horror fans and will attract every curious cinema- goer. Get Out is a horror with a difference, lead by our own home grown Daniel Kaluuuya, and Girls star Allison Williams. No matter how much knowledge we possess on a certain topic, if we are never able to verbally articulate our thoughts in a way that people find interesting, no one listens. His 'seven deadly sins' of speaking are gossip, judging, negativity, complaining, excuses, exaggeration, and dogmatism (equating facts with opinions). As soon as you start using any of the above, you will automatically make your audience lose interest. Instead his four cornerstones on speaking are: honesty, authenticity, integrity, and love.
