best practices Protect Your Data, Reduce Your Turnovers Due to the recent trends in security breaches and newfound awareness, information security will continue to be a growing concern as the amount of data increase, storage trends evolve and businesses experience intensified regulatory pressure to protect the confidentiality of sensitive data. Significant risks can be avoided by bringing the right stakeholders to the table and centralizing and integrating security policies and procedures across the organization. In the short term, certain key risk areas can be addressed and mitigated. Policies and procedures should be put in place to cover internal data storage and transfer, as well as due diligence and an auditing process for the selection of outside vendors entrusted with personal and sensitive organizational data. While technology is an important aspect of information security program development, the real key is making sure that your team is adequately prepared to avoid any fumbles. A successful program will be ultimately based on training, awareness and continual evaluation of the process. Practice may not make perfect, but it should reduce the turnover margin significantly.
