The average accessories sold per unit dropped $35, or 3 percent, in 2016 when compared to 2015. Midwest buyers added practically the same amount of accessories in 2016 vs. 2015. Aver- age accessories per unit decreased less than 1 percent in 2016. A CLOSER LOOK AT THE STUDY Since it has become difficult to define deal- ership as either "metric" or "V-twin," this study is confined to units that have been sold by any CDK Lightspeed DMS user and defined by the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) as "cruisers." Units sold through the Talon DMS have not been included, and any impact those sales might have had on this report is unknown. Cruisers generally use a V-twin-type engine and are further described by the MIC as: usually includes a full-view engine, swept-back and/or high handlebars with forward set footpegs and a stepped seat for two, often with a passenger support bar. The body styling tends to be heavier in appearance than standard bikes, with chrome trim.
