PWC Personal watercraft sales increased nearly 10 percent year-over-year in February, according to the latest Info-Link Bellwether report. PWC retail growth has trended in the same nearly 10 percent year-over-year range for the past six months. According to Info-Link, the Bellwether report tracks sales of powerboats across the country based on new U.S. boat registrations on a rolling 12-month basis. Bellwether states are geographically dispersed states represent- ing roughly half of the U.S. boat market (var- ies by market segment and time of year). P1 AQUAX USA SCHEDULE IS BIGGER THAN EVER P1 AquaX USA will host 10 events in 2017, more than ever before, as the series continues to expand after another successful year of rac- ing in 2016. The season will once again be split into Pro and Amateur championships, with the ama- teur series including the newly named North East series that will now feature Huntington, West Virginia, as a third venue. The biggest news to come out of the 2017 plans is that a world championship event in Key West, Florida, will end the season. Among the after- market brands featured are Slippery, Motion Pro, WSM and more. 2016 PWC REGISTRATIONS RISE: NMMA The National Marine Manufacturers Associa- tion reports that new PWC registrations increased by 7.4 percent year-over-year in 2016 compared to 2015. JETPILOT RELAUNCHES WEBSITE Jetpilot announced the relaunch of its corporate website at www.jetpilot.com. The redesigned website provides improved functionality, updated content, product promotions, giveaways and social network- ing services for users to interact with Jetpi- lot directly. PRO WATERCROSS ADDS MANAGING DIRECTOR Jason Burns has joined Pro Watercross as managing director of Pro Watercross' Hydroflight division. Burns was a PWC freestyle competitor for more than 20 years and has been involved in the growth of the Hydroflight sport for the past five years, working with industry innova- tor Franky Zapata. "Working with Franky is wonderful, and working with AJ [Handler] and Franky is like a dream come true," Burns said. "These are two outstanding guys that are trying to make something special happen here with this 2017 tour, and I feel privileged to be a part of it all." Burns has already had a hand in the behind-the-scenes efforts needed to bring the Hydroflight tour into the Pro Watercross family, helping to refresh competition rules, scoring and procedures as well as working with sponsors, venues and athletes to prepare for the opening round for Hydroflight in Pen- sacola, Florida, on April 29-30.
