But, we offer a great selection, and that adds a uniqueness to our offerings. Our toy hauler sales are up – like everything else. If you are not selling something right now, you are doing something wrong." Dan Corley, sales manager Richard's Boat & RV Center Lancaster, Calif. "We were a family- owned boat dealership for 25 years when Lance asked us to be a dealer for them almost 10 years ago. We originally got into the boat business because we loved boating – and still do. We happen to be in Lancaster, where Lances are built, so it was only natural that when Lance needed a local dealer, they asked us. "It has worked out well for both of us. "We are very grateful for the opportunity they gave us, and we discovered that lots more people go camping than boating – especially in a drought. California has been in a drought situation for several years and the lakes are just now filling again. You need water to boat, but not to camp, although it's nice. "We sell Lance, Palomino pop-up campers for smaller trucks and Crestliner boats. Lance is known for its superior quality, and because we are so close to the factory, they are easy to get and we can sell them for less. "Quality is a top feature for … Lance. After 52 years, nobody builds them better. Most of our customers are previous RV owners and they know what they want and are not willing to settle. "We sell mostly travel trailers. They are lightweight and inex- pensive. They tow easily and are affordable. Almost anyone can buy a trailer and tow it with the vehicle they already own. … "Lance offers 10 travel trailers. That's not a lot compared to some manufacturers, but they are the perfect size for most people. We sell a lot of 19-foot and 22-foot models … (including the new 2017 Lance 2612 toy hauler). "The other advantage is that they are lightweight. It's easy to build a strong RV, but to also make it lightweight is the tricky part. Lighter means easy to tow and better fuel economy; quality needs no explanation."
