Also that year, ASA Electronics was founded in Elkhart, Ind., as the Mid- west regional distributor of Audiovox mobile audio/video products. Four decades later only one of those things remains: ASA Electronics, which this year is celebrating its 40 th anniversary. Formula for Success Given that ASA Electronics is a player in the super-competitive mobile electronics business, its staying power in the market didn't happen by acci- dent, according to ASA President Brent Barrow. Instead, it was the result of a very deliberate plan by ASA's leadership to be a leader by anticipating what the market needed rather than simply following popular trends at the time, he says. "Regardless of the technology – or what the market looks like – the same philosophies over the past 40 years are the same going forward," Barrow says. "We determine what kinds of needs are in the marketplace, whatever those needs are, and solve product issues or applica- tions issues and come up with the best product. We take the latest tech trends that exist and put them into the product and proper configurations for all the dif- ferent markets that we serve." In addition to the RV market, the company also serves several other indus- tries, including marine, construction, heavy-duty farm equipment and pow- ersports. The company's proprietary brands include Jensen, Jensen Heavy Duty, iN-Command Control Systems, Marine Audio, Voyager and Advent Air. ASA also is a distributor in specialty mar- kets for SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Polk Ultramarine products.
