2017 / ISSUE 98 23 FILM One of the biggest biopics of all times, All Eyez on Me, is going to be released on Friday the 16th of June on the day of Tupac's 46th birthday. On the 17th of June, the story of the iconic rapper will also close the 2017 American Black Film Festival in Miami. Directed by Benny Boom, the film focuses on the rapper's life from his early days to the drive- by that ended his life at the age of 25. In the new trailer of the film you get to take a closer look at the artist's life, his friendship with B.I.G and how the rapper used his music to make a change. The cast includes Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac Shakur, Jamal Woolard as Biggie Smalls and Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur, the mother of the poet. Almost 21 years after his death, Tupac's untold true story is coming on the big screen this summer! Sociologist David R Williams challenges us to look at how discrimination can affect our health. Through extensive research he found that high levels of racism can cause a broad range of diseases. From blood pressure, abdominal obesity, breast cancer and heart disease. RACISM CAN MAKE YOU SICK FEATURED TED 'ALL EYEZ' ON TUPAC SHAKUR'S BIOPIC TOP FIVE UPCOMING FILMS These are the 5 must-see upcoming movies in 2017. April 21st Born in China - Born in China focuses on some of the natural wonders of the Far East. Directed by Lu Chuan the documentary will showcase everything that the country has to offer. From pandas, snow leopards to golden snub-nosed monkeys. The international version of Born in China will be narrated by none other than Office actor John Krasinski. April 28th Sleight - A young street magician (Jacob Latimore) turns to dealing drugs to support his sister after his mother's death. But when he gets in too deep his sister is kidnapped, he is forced to use magic and his intelligence to save her. April 28th The Circle - Mae Holland (Emma Watson) rises through the ranks of the world's largest tech company. Encouraged by company founder Eamon Bailey (Tom Hanks) Mae pushes the boundaries of privacy and ethics. But no one is really safe when everyone is watching. May 19th Alien - Covenant - Ridley Scott brings us a prequel to the Alien trilogy that will begin with Prometheus - and connects directly to Ridley's 1979 ALIEN. The crew of the colony ship Covenant will discover a dark and dangerous world. Whose sole inhabitant is the 'synthetic' David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. May 29th Baywatch - Based on the American TV show with the same name, the film will focus on Lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (The Rock) and new hotshot lifeguard (Zach Efron), who uncover a criminal plot that could spell danger for their beloved bay. Set some time in the future, Life tells the story of 6 astronauts who have finally discovered the thing that humans have been searching for years for, life on Mars! However, the discovery is not the green faced, antenna wielding martian that everyone was expecting, but something much more sinister. Despite having amazing futuristic CGI and some big Hollywood names, the film is unfortunately let down by bad scripts and a rather unoriginal storyline with a very strong 'Gravity meets Alien' feel to the movie. It seems like perhaps if this film was made in the 80's then it would have had a lot of potential to be a fantastic cult classic. However, it was released in 2017, where the unknown freakiness of the future is now, ironically, a thing of the past. If watching the clever gremlin from Gremlins 2 grow wings and fly around trying to eat people in space is your thing, then Life is the film for you. IS THERE LIFE ON MARS? FIND OUT BY WATCHING 'LIFE'
