Techno City is simply not the shit that other DJs play. This is proper dirty, sexy house music. From the intro 'The Hike' that hooks you in to the emotive piano on 'Time to Say Goodbye', to the energy of 'Aimer et C'est Tout', the LP plays so well. The title track 'Techno city' feels like a welcome into the deep, dark clubs of underground dance circuit, conjuring images of dark sweaty rooms at 6am. The track builds up the funk that you know as a classically DJ W!ld groove, with a seriously big drop that we can't wait to hear pumping on a great sound system. While 'Love On The Beat' is a darker track with a softer bounce than Techno City. A warm, round bassline, sets the tone from the start. This track is a straight up groove. If you have seen DJ W!ld play, you'll know his sets are masterfully jammed with his own productions and Techno City shows that off well! Indie-electronic group The Gift have released their new LP titled Altar. The band has teamed up with music pioneer Brian Eno for this new record. Festival season is nearly upon us, and this year we kick off with the Ceremony Festival. ONE TO WATCH: THE GIFT Taking place in Haggerston Park Shoreditch, this year's line-up is absolutely insane. The 29th of April is a bank holiday so you have no excuse! Amine Edge and DANCE are headlining the Analog main stage after dominating the French dance scene. Miguel Campbell and DJ Skt will also be playing at the main stage amongst many other great artists. Artful Dodger is the headliner on the Garage focused stage. With tons of other artists playing you should check out the line-up for yourself as this is going to be one killer Saturday! So what are you waiting for, get your tickets now! The album has already made waves with the single 'Clinic Hope' being playlisted on radio 6. The record is built on complex layering sprinkled with dream-pop style hooks, a great example of this is the track 'Big Fish'. With a sexy baseline to kick off the track's groove, and the explosive vocals hitting you like a train. It's sounds like Metronomy and Hot Chip had a baby. All the tracks on the album are different and complex in their themes, a perfect example of this complexity is the dark brooding track 'Malifest'. But despite the complex themes behind the lyrics the album manages to pull it off without sounding pretentious, and the heavy funk influence on the tracks manages to carry it home.
