56 ISSUE 98 / 2017 REGGAE TRACK OF THE MONTH: COLLIE BUDDZ Damian 'Jnr Gong' Marley established himself over a decade ago with the hit 2005 album Welcome to Jamrock, the album that saw him win a Grammy for 'Best Urban/Alternative Performance', a first for a Jamaican artist. The highly acclaimed reggae artist Collie Buddz is back with his latest single 'Good Life', the title track of his new album which is set for release on May 19th. Making his name with instant smash hits such as 'Come Around' and 'Blind To You', fans will be delighted as the New Orleans artist has not released a full-length album since his self titled 2007 debut. Featuring Sammy Adams with production from Supadubs, lounge back or get jammin' to this track from the man known for his electrifying live shows and super silky vocals. As with the best of Buddz's tracks, it's got 'summer anthem' written all over it. Since then the reggae icon announced that a fourth studio album Stony Hill, would be released in January 2017. However, January arrived and still no album. Then came the announcement that it had been delayed until Spring 2017. Spring has now arrived and still no Stony Hill... So what's going on? Having watched him smash The Lion's Den stage at Boomtown last year and his London performances a few years back, all we know is that the youngest son of Bob Marley knows what he's doing. So keep your eyes open and ears peeled, cause the album could drop anytime now! NEWS: DAMIAN MARLEY'S 'STONY HILL' POSTPONED AGAIN ALBUM OF THE MONTH: SUNS OF DUB, DUB IRATION & ADDIS PABLO Suns of Dub, Dub Iration and Addis Pablo have come together for the LP Tribute to Xalisco. As soon as you start listening to the record the heritage of Addis Pablo, son of the great dub king Augustus Pablo, is immediately apparent. The low key, almost minimal dub sound dominated by the melodica that has forever been attributed to Augustus, shines vibrantly throughout the album with a modern twist, incorporating electronic synth sounds. That no doubt add to the feeling without taking away from its simple yet wholesomely nostalgic classic dub sound. The Tribute to Xalisco reminds us that the dub scene is without question in the safest of hands if this great record is anything to go by.
