20 EAST IDAHO HOME & GARDEN 2017 On June 25, 2016, more than 200 people flocked to Crow's Addition, commonly known as Idaho Falls' numbered streets, to "Ooh" and "Aah" over distinctive architecture and curb appeal as part of Idaho Falls Historic Preservation Commission's annual walking tour. But this last year's tour was different than those in the past. Rather than starting and ending with a view from the sidewalk, attendees toured several houses, a century-old carriage house, one church and an unexpected and overhauled 1968 Roadrunner camp trailer situated in the 11th Street Historic District. "This is by far the best tour we've had, and I think it was because we had a combination of (property types) and people could go in the homes," said commission member and tour plan- ner Hereschell Mynarcik. IFHPC hosts a different walking tour each year. Last year's tour highlighted the South Ridge District and the original Eagle Rock town site. Historic churches have also been on the docket, and the 11th Street Historic District has been featured too. But the number of people who turned out for this year's tour set a new record for attendance. This wasn't the first time the neighborhood has drawn a crowd. Contractors began building in Crow's Addition in the late 1890s, and for more than 40 years builders crafted custom homes for families and doctors, Idaho National Laboratory professionals and plumbers. The goal for this year's tour was specific: By getting locals inside historic homes, more people might consider living in and loving a home with history.
