38 EAST IDAHO HOME & GARDEN 2017 { T H E B U S I N E S S O F L I V I N G } Vase-lift A DIY Project n Story and Photos by Nikki Siegel Materials needed: • Dollar Store glass vases • Looking Glass spray paint • Colored spray paint • Tape (painting tape or electrical tape) • Rubber gloves (optional) Step one: Spray the inside of your vase with the Looking Glass spray paint in several thin coats. Allow the paint to dry between each coat. If desired, swirl the paint pooled in the bottom of the vase around the sides while it dries to give it more of a textured look. Step two: Once the inside of the vase is completely dry, tape a pattern on the outside of the vase. Wherever you tape will be where the mirror look shines through to the outside. Step three: Place your vase upside down on a sur- face you don't mind getting painted. Spray the color of your choice onto the outside of the vase. You can hold the can closer to the vase for a thicker coat or hold it further away for a more speckled look. The vases shown here have a variety of patterns. Step four: Once your vase is mostly dry, slowly and carefully peel the tape off. Let it dry the rest of the way and enjoy! Step one Step two Step two Step three Step three Materials needed
