GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 27, ISSUE 5 52 BY GOLD AND BLACK STAFF I n April, Mike Bobinski didn't even realize how long he'd been on the job as Purdue's athletic director. His first six months had been quite the whirl- wind: Dismissing a football coach, hiring another, eval- uating the athletic department and setting a standard of expectations for it, traveling with the men's basket- ball team during its Sweet 16 run, trying to cultivate re- lationships with donors, fans and student-athletes and trying to keep track of all of the school's 18 teams. Gold and Black: What are you pleased to have accomplished here in the first six months? Bobinski: "I haven't accomplished a whole lot, to be honest with you, because it has been an adjustment process. Working with an organization isn't a moment in time. It is a set of processes and occurrences, just like building a team is. These things happen over the Tom Campbell Mike Bobinski has seemed to get off to a hot start as Pur- due's athletic director, gaining momentum from the Jeff Brohm hire in football and men's basketball's Sweet 16 appearance.
