GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 27, ISSUE 5 38 T hough Jeff Brohm may not have had the ideal pieces this spring up front and at receiver to truly showcase what his offense could be — and maybe will be soon — there were at least hints. The exclusive no-huddle with an ability to dictate tempo is intriguing, as well as the constant shifts and misdirection, "eye candy" that often can generate conflict of assignment for defenders. Brohm's numerous run-pass option plays can freeze linebackers, too, and any extra second to deliver a pass or create angles in block- ing could be huge for an offense that lacks depth and experience across the starting unit. So there certainly were glimpses this spring of potential for an explosive unit. Too bad the more underlying impression was how creative Brohm is going to have to be, maybe without much choice, consid- ering the skill level. … Perhaps the best element to the offense is Brohm seems intent on identi- fying playmakers and putting them in position to get the ball.
