It has been my experience as a three-time champion racecar driver and driving instructor that a little track time goes a long way when it comes to producing sober, mature drivers.” For more information, visit: www.motorgospel.org Simpson Recalls Voyager 2 Helmets have been reported from the field in nine months of use, but in the interest of racing safety, it is proactively recalling these products and providing customers with a safe resolution. Ask National QWhat happens to track records when a particular class changes its spec tire? AIt varies by region. For example, regions such as Southern California and Northern California do not officially keep class records, but some series leaders might document them for a particular class. Other regions such as Great Lakes, Midwest, Southeast, Arizona, Texas, Florida and Rocky Mountain maintain a database of track records based on racetrack configurations, and let the chips fall where they may for rule or equipment changes, as well as track resurfacing or new curbing, all of which can affect overall lap times. Realistically, over time all track records fall as tracks, tire compounds, equipment and drivers improve. QMy medical expires halfway through this season. Do I need to renew it before the second half of the season, or can I wait till this season is over? AYour license becomes invalid the day after the shown Medical Expiration date on your license. You can wait, but you can’t race with an invalid license. Do you have a question for NASA National staff? Send them to SpeedNewsEditor@drivenasa.com. SN
