SCOTT SCHRADER, SVP/GM CONTROL STATES, DIAGEO NORTH AMERICA "Diversity: the art of thinking independently together." – Malcolm Forbes (American entrepreneur and prominent publisher 1919-1990) We live in a dynamic time. Today, control states are facing an unprecedented shift in demographics and consumer pref- erences. According to the latest U.S. Census data, Millenni- als have now surpassed Boomers as the largest generation. Meanwhile, the Department of Labor reports that women accounted for 56.7% of the U.S. labor force in 2015. And what developments shaped the past year? For insight into these questions, StateWays once again turned to industry executives. Throughout the year, the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) Board of Directors meets with the Industry Advisory Committee — a group of indus- try leaders from beverage alcohol suppliers — to address new and ongoing issues facing the industry and the control states. StateWays asks these committee members to participate annually in a virtual roundtable, in which they are invited to discuss accomplishments of the past year, challenges facing their industry and the future for the control states. The theme of the annual NABCA conference in 2017 is "Taking Advantage of Change," so we suggested that Industry Advisory Committee members consider that theme as a jumping off point for their comments.
