ASCO Conflict of Interest Policy and Exception In compliance with the standards established by ASCO's Conflict of Interest Policy (J Clin Oncol. 2006;24:519- 521) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), ASCO strives to promote bal- ance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor through disclosure of financial and other interests, and identification and management of potential conflicts. According to ASCO's Conflict of Interest Policy, the follow- ing financial and other relationships must be disclosed: employment or leadership positions, consultant or advi- sory role, stock ownership, honoraria, research funding, expert testimony, and other remuneration (J Clin Oncol. 2006;24:520). The ASCO Conflict of Interest Policy requirements apply to all authors who submit educational summaries or abstracts to the Genitourinary Cancers Symposium. The 2012 Breast Cancer Symposium Program Committee has reviewed all presenter disclosure reports, identi- fied potential conflicts of interest, and implemented strategies to manage those areas of conflict where they exist. Relationships are considered self-held and compensated unless otherwise noted. Employment/Leadership rela- tionships are considered compensated employment unless otherwise noted. Definition of notations: L – Leader- ship Position;I–Immediate Family Member;B–Myself and Immediate Family Member;U–Uncompensated. For clinical trials that began accrual on or after April 29, 2004, ASCO's Policy places some restrictions on the financial relationships of principal investigators (J Clin Oncol. 2006;24:521). If a principal investigator holds any restricted relationships, his or her abstract will be ineligible for placement in the 2012 Genitourinary Cancers Symposium unless the ASCO Ethics Committee grants an exception. NIH-sponsored trials are exempt from the Policy restrictions. Abstracts published or presented pursuant to an exception to the ASCO Conflict of Interest Policy are desig- nated with a caret symbol (^) in the 2012 Breast Cancer Symposium Proceedings. For more information about the ASCO Conflict of Interest Policy and the exceptions process, please visit asco.org/rwi. vi
