rv-pro.com June 2017 • RV PRO • 33 Replacement Parts warranty was lengthened to five years and all axles now have a lifetime weld warranty. "That was a big step forward," Thursby says. "We led the industry in this effort and in this direction. We were confident in doing so because we did a lot of testing and review of our data in terms of performance." The result was some immediate business gains from OE man- ufacturers and, as Dexter expected, the company's competition was forced to follow suit, he says. DOS Improves Performance The improved warranty was made possible in part thanks to DOS, or Dexter Operating System. Designed to eliminate waste in Dexter's processes and reduce product variability, DOS is a con- tinuous improvement program that even bests the requirements needed for ISO 9001:2015 quality certification. The company achieved that lofty goal last fall. "That implementation has been taking place in a very struc- tured manner in all our locations throughout the company. It started with a significant focus on key measurables," Thursby says. "One thing you'll see walking through the plants is a very consistent approach to how we're manufacturing the product and delivering on the customer commitment." Dexter Axle executives are pictured at the company manufacturing facility in Albion, Ind.
