66 • June 2017 • S I G N & D I G I T A L G R A P H I C S WRAPS DIGITAL GRAPHICS One tip is to mark the back of the film to be sure you're being consistent in the direction of the film. If the backing paper has an imprint, you can also use this as a guide for staying consistent in the film direction. Carbon fiber film is unique because of it's obvious pattern. During application you need to avoid distorting the lines of the carbon fiber film. Overheating and Large sections of this motorcycle received carbon fiber accents. Note the straight lines in the carbon fiber across all the panels. (Images courtesy of Icon Image Graphics) The customer's logo was contour cut out of 3M 1080 series black carbon fiber. The conformability of the film made it easy to apply over contours and obstacles. These blue parts were wrapped with a black carbon fiber to completely change the look. The film was over cut and carefully formed into the contours.
