Diagnosis, thera- peutic options and prognosis will be discussed. Location: Salons FGH SESSION 17: LAUREN LAMB, DVM, DACVS Lameness 3: Modern therapy for lameness issues: What's available, when do we use certain therapies Equine practitioners have the benefit of having a multitude of therapeutic options when treating horses with lameness. e problem arises in trying to decide which therapy to use. is lecture will discuss some of the current therapies available, review current literature and give clinical impression of these therapies. Learn how to rec- ognize this common syndrome, what you can do to treat it, and how to talk to owners about managing horses with uveitis. Risk factors such as genetics and leptospirosis will be covered. Location: Salons FGH SESSION 18: KEVIN CLAUNCH, DVM, DACVS Field Surgery 1 - So Tissue is session will focus on so tissue surgeries that may be performed under field conditions both under general anesthesia and in the standing horse. e focus will be on clinical decision making, current literature, and surgical technique to avoid common errors. Location: Travertine 2:45pm-3:45pm SESSION 13: ANNETTE PETERSON, DVM, DACVD Derm #1: Allergic and Autoimmune Skin diseases (in horses) is one hour lecture covers equine insect hypersensitivity, Atopic dermatitis, food allergy, contact allergy, pemphigus foliaceus and alopecia areata. We will go over etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of each disease in detail and some case examples. Equine allergies and the above mentioned autoimmune diseases are frequently encountered in practice and good basic knowledge of those disease will help the equine veterinarian in daily practice. CLAY STUBBS MEMORIAL LECTURES WITH JACK EASLEY, DVM, MS, DABVP, DAVDC Dental #1: Equine Dental Development and Its Relationship to Disease e equine mouth is unique from the standpoint that it is ever-changing throughout life. e 24 deciduous teeth present in a 6-month-old foal are replaced by 36-40 permanent, continually-erupting teeth in the adult horse. A thorough understanding of developmental changes is the foundation for understanding all types of dental disease. Location: Travertine 3:45pm-4:15pm Long Break with Snacks and Refreshments Location: Exhibit Hall (Salons ABCDE) 4:15pm-5:15pm SESSION 14: ANNETTE PETERSON, DVM, DACVD Derm #2: Infectious Skin diseases (in horses and donkeys) is one hour lecture will cover topics like: dermatophytosis/ ringworm, dermatophilosis/rainrot, papillomatosis, aural plaques, habronemiasis/sommer sores, onchocerciasis, phythiosis, besnoitosis, pastern dermatitis syndrome: scratches, greasy heal, grapes, vasculitis, photodermatitis (primary/ secondary) and progressive lymphedema. We will go over etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of each disease in detail and some case examples. Location: Salons FGH SESSION 20: DR R. CLAY STUBBS MEMORIAL LECTURES WITH JACK EASLEY, DVM, MS, DABVP, DAVDC Dental #2: Regular Dental Examinations Improve the "Health" of Your Practice Historically, equine dentistry consisted of "floating teeth". As veteri- narians, we are obligated to diagnose and treat, but first a detailed oral examination is necessary. e oral examination is the most important consideration in dentistry and the basis for all dental care.
