Ami Carty's RCMP costume was a show stopper on Monday when a Canada 150 cel- ebration at Rideau Vista Public School included a costume parade of school teams and a peek into the school's time capsule which is scheduled to be opened in 2050. Organizers of Canada Day in Westport are invit- ing everyone to be in the parade this year. For Canada's Sesqui- centennial Year, they want to make this parade one to remember. There is a space for you if you fall into any of these categories: boys and girls, girls and boys and kids with their bikes. Other cat- egories include dogs and their owners, musicians, antique vehicles, clowns, men and women - some dressed in their Sesquicen- tennial clothes, grandmas, grandpas, aunties, uncles and cousins and the fire fighters will be joining the fun again this year. The parade will form up at 12:30 in the parking lot of St. Edward's. The West- port Senior of the Year will be announced and the recipient will lead the parade - right behind the Colour Party of Branch 542 of the Royal Canadian Legion. The parade begins at 1 p.m. and will proceed along Bedford to Church St., down Church to Spring St and end at the Community Centre where Sparky will be waiting for the kids and the Legion will have treats. Earlier on July 1, the OPP will be providing a bike safety rodeo at the Community Centre at 10:30 a.m.. All the girls and boys need to bring is their bike and the OPP will spend an hour or so cover- ing bike safety. They are also hoping businesses have time to decorate their windows in red and white for the big day. Watch next week's Review-Mirror for more on Canada Day activities in Westport and North Crosby.
