•Continued from page 1 Village Infrastructure Manager Max Christie established that when a lagoon's spare capacity of 4,000 cubic meters was reached, the effluent haul- ing firm would be provid- ed 10 days notice of the hauling requirement. Christie noted some good news that recent flows had been around 300 cubic meters a day and spraying could poten- tially continue through the summer. Hauling and disposing of the sewage outside of the municipality costs around $10 a cubic meter, said Christie who noted to council Monday that every hour of spraying could save the village $1000. The hours of spray irri- gation are limited by ground saturation and the presence of ponding, an issue which temporarily prevented further irriga- tion last Thursday. Once work at the site begins to build the new fil- ter bed system, the area of the spraying will need to be move to avoid interfer- ing with construction. Reports on spraying are available weekly at www.villageofwestport.ca at the top of the water and wastewater page under the top tab of Living Here.
